You really have to sit down and listen to the music (either CD or LP) a couple of times before you analyse the structure of the symphony in terms of melody, rhythm, harmony, timbre and texture. It is in your best interest to find out why D. Shostakovich composed this symphony in 1937 ~ the background behind it. You can buy this CD online from Amazon. Leonard Bernstein / New York Philharmonic Orchestra (Sony Classical 88697683652-51) CD For me, these two LP are superb. I wonder if you can find them. You also need a turn-table to play it. 1.
